Life Ready
Life Ready is a mandatory 25 hour program for students in Years 11 and/or 12 in NSW Public Schools.
It aims to prepare and support senior students as they encounter situations related to health and safety as they become more independent and gain more responsibilities.
Life Ready focuses on offering opportunities for students to build the functional knowledge and skills for life after school. Our focus is on upskilling our students to become young adults that have the resources to make informed and well thought out decisions. Incorporating real-world experiences and examples, allow students to grasp the concepts being discussed and ensures they are able to transfer their knowledge and skills into real-world situations.
Lisarow High School endeavours to produce well rounded young adults that are able to be a positive and productive member of their community and with Life Ready, our students are on that pathway.
Life Ready Learning Contexts can include:
- Building self-concepts and independence
- Preparing for participation in community, education and employment
- Safe and ethical behaviour
- Building health literacy
- Making safe and responsible choices
- Drugs and alcohol in different contexts
- Travelling safely locally and overseas
- Safe road use to protect each other
- Developing and maintaining respectful relationships
- Promoting safety, equality and respect in relationships
- Developing self-efficacy and mental fitness
- Support for self and others
To enhance this, Lisarow High School offers a range of excursions and incursions, for example:
- RYDA - provides students with the tools and understanding they need to see themselves as active, responsible road citizens. Students work with their peers to come up with strategies to be better prepared and make good decisions, both as drivers and as highly influential passengers
- Life Changer - Throughout the Stress Less Workshop, participants uncover and explore collective contributors to stress and anxiety, beginning to understand the intricate link between relationships and mental health. Through practical application, participants acquire mindfulness techniques designed to elevate their overall wellbeing, providing valuable tools for navigating the challenges of their senior years with resilience and ease.
